Charter
Boats
... are available from Cranberry
Marina that will take you out on Georgian Bay and have you on 5,
10, 15, 20 and 25 lb. Chinook Salmon, Rainbow, Brown Trout, Lake
Trout, Splake, and Smallmouth Bass.
The
entire Nottawasaga Bay area is teaming with these fish stocked by
the provincial government and the enthusiastic support of local
enthusiasts who maintain an excellent hatchery for salmon and rainbow
on Blue Mountain. Other hatcheries are maintained by local angling
enthusiasts who have formed clubs and maintain hatcheries along
the shoreline at Collingwood, Meaford and Owen Sound.
Salmon
and Rainbow Trout
in
the Cranberry Area are probably one of the world's best kept secrets.
This is world class fishing action and can be found directly out
from Cranberry Marina, and for 40 kilometers in both directions
along the shoreline. We have the best of the freshwater salmon fishing
in all of the Great Lakes, or anywhere in the world, because of
the clarity and purity of the water in Georgian Bay. Some new discoveries
in the breeding process are expected to yield salmon in the 45 lb.
and over class. Average size at mid-season ranges 10 to 25 lbs...enough
to give even the stoutest of heart an adrenaline rush of huge proportions!

The
picture above shows Mark Collins of London Ontario with an 18 lb.
Chinook Salmon
he caught within 6 miles of Cranberry Marina on August
3rd, 1996 fishing with Ron Peck on board the Wet One.

The
following weekend, Ron took this beautiful 12 lb. brown trout (Pictured
above)
within 2 miles of Cranberry Marina in 60 ft of water.

The
picture above shows Ron with a 22 lb Chinook and a 9 lb Rainbow
(Skomani) caught Aug. 19/96.
Monster
Smallmouth Bass
can be fished by wading the bay directly in front of the marina
early in the season or by small boats that can be rented from Cranberry
Marina. The shale structure immediately along the shoreline
and between the mainland and the island provides ideal cover and
forage for the scrappiest fish in freshwater and an exciting experience
for the kids.
